Testimonials
Ms. Wilcox began working with our child when they were a nine-year old third-grader. At the time, our child had been diagnosed with mixed-type dyslexia, mixed type dysgraphia, autism spectrum disorder, anxiety disorder, and ADHD inattentive type. We engaged Ms. Wilcox because our child needed evidence-based phonics instruction to address his decoding, encoding, and prosody weaknesses arising from his special needs.
Julia is always well prepared for every lesson. She has a very strong knowledge of the Orton-Gillingham Approach and is able to easily communicate the lesson to Jack. Her ability to appropriately time the introduction of new material has resulted in Jack consistently achieving success and increasing his self-confidence.
Julia is an outstanding individual. She is dedicated, engaging, hardworking, caring and thoughtful. When Julia first started tutoring our son. Mason, he really struggled with reading. These struggles permeated his academics, and Mason had a poor attitude towards school. Julia’s consistent, cheerful and caring attitude proved critical in helping Mason improve his reading skills and develop strategies to assist him with his learning disability throughout life. Julia also helped Mason to change his outlook and attitude on learning.
Most important, though, is that Julia delivers. We knew that this was a multi-year journey to help our son better prepare for middle school and high school. Even after a year, we saw a dramatic difference in our son’s fluency and comfort level reading. It’s deeply comforting to know that Julia is so actively managing our son’s learning plan.
